my cocker had one.

the vet said as long as it's small and you can push it back in it should'nt cause any problems.they also said that the stomach muscle's can grow around them and sort them out.if it is'nt too big i would'nt bother, but check with the vet.my cocker's was the size of a pea as a pup and never got any bigger.

he ate a conker a month or so back so needed operating on so i got them to sort the hernia out at the same time :yp:

hope this helps

I had a litter of GSPs and one of the pups had an umbilicle hernia, the vet told me to leave it for a few weeks and see if the abdominal muscles grow round it , if not it's not a major job and he would sort it out,in the end he had to operate(not a major op) at a cost of £80.Please see your vet at worse it's only £80 hope this helps Jase.

Thanks for the replies. I dont own the pup, just enquiring as i'd seen a nice bitch up for sale. But unfortunatly we were told by the breeder that it does have a hernia. It was caused by her having a small bleed from the umbilical cord at a few days old, rather than her being born with it.

keep the info coming.

Thanks
