Go for it,did the same to mine.Made the neck ring bigger, cut the tail feathers down a bit so not so wide and with a white paint pen went over the outline of feathers that lay ontop of tail feathers, looks very good and gets results with them coming to land in my patterns.

You could down load a picture off web to copy.

if you google woodpigeon and go to images you will find that on some of the pics the woodpigeon has a white wing bar and in others it is not visible. Also the neck ring is infact two circular spots either side of neck rather than bar. So perhaps a variety of decoys with white spots, white bars some with wing bars and some not might produce better results. Anyone do this?

I would paint the wing bars as well as the neck ring. Its true the wing bars are not always visable when they are feeding , but if you watch a feeding flock some birds are always flitting from the back to the front of the flock and flashing their wing bars as they do so. I lay a few dead pigeons with their wings open and wing bar showing about the decoy patten. It all adds to the visability of the decoy pattern.
