Steyr Mannlicher pro hunter .223 For sale

Recommended Posts

SOLD I've decided to sell my Mannlicher pro hunter .223 as the farm I shoot on doesn't have the fox problem the farmer made out and I want a stalking rifle.

It's a prohunter MK2 and is the mountain version which come with a screwcut 1in12 19" barrel as opposed to the standard 21"

The prohunters suffered flex issues in the forend of the stock which meant on a bi-pod with a mod the barrel would sometimes catch the stock and cause a flyer.

This was pretty much fixed with the MK2 version but occasionally it still occured.

My gun has had a carbon fibre insert proffesionally cnc machined and fitted into the stock which totally prevents the flex issue. It was done by a local carbon fibre specialists who undertake work for high end motorsport teams at a cost of £150. The beauty of it is that unlike conventional methods such as resin filling etc it is permanent and adds no noticeably weight.

Also included are the rings and T8 mod, the scope and Bi-pod pictured aren't.

SOLD

The gun is about 4 years old. It was bought new by a friend who is the keeper on a local estate.

He used it purely for foxing before trading it in for a .243 as deer have started to become a problem. When he told me he'd traded it in I bought it (just under a year ago) as I knew it hadn't had that many rounds through it.

As to the exact amount I can't say but it's not been used on a range or for target use and it's only had factory ammo through it.

It's a .223 so it should last forever unlike say a .243 or a 22.250 :hmm:

Forgot to add it has the single stage set trigger, you push it forward to set it. It can be un-set without firing by roling the safety on.

Surprised you are letting it go, I love Steyr set triggers and the stock mod looks much better than my resin fill.

I will be keeping mine for ever but yours looks like a bargain :o

Thanks Ben. Part of me says keep it as it's fully sorted for me but I hardly use it at the moment and I have a genuine need for a stalking rig and a semi auto, so another part (the head) says sell it.
