jim38curl
hi all, Gave some pigeon breasts to my mum to give to aunt but she says my aunts boyfriend said not to have them as they contain lead shot and have been frozen. Says you should never freeze anything with shot in it. I asked what experience he has of shooting and aparently he had quite a lot ! He reckons ( your gonna love this next bit ) that you should do head shots only - with a shotgun, yeah right. I nearly fell over laughing. . . i feel pretty chuffed if i hit them let alone go for a head only shot. I don't know if he still does shoot but if so i will recommend that he goes out and head shoots his own pigeons in future so he can get his own lead free frozen breasts. Does anyone know if somehow lead is made worse if frozen. I'm know that it's never going to be the best thing to make a meal of but can't see how it would be made worse by being frozen. Cheers, Jim. dunganick
invite him out, and ask him to demonstrate how to head shoot a pigeon as your unsure. i know these types, had one come down to an open day at my rifle club who had head shot a rabbit at 157yards exactly with his .22  i just smiled and let him shoot a real gun
lurcherboy
Your aunts boyfriend is what I would call a T0szer, others may think different. LB
jim38curl
I've never met him and think the same as well. Shame really, they seemed quite chuffed with 60p a bird. ha ha.
