Scottyshooter36
Hi all, im due to go pigeon shooting today but during the day expecting some rain. I was wondering if my pigeon magnet would be alright to leave out in the field whilst its raining? Would i need to cover up the battery or motor with anything so that they are not exposed to the wet? Many Thanks Scott
Guest beechris
i would cover the battery but im not sure about the motor. you could use it when its not raining and bring it in when its raining . Edited April 25, 2010 by beechris
Cranfield
I have used a rotary in the rain with no problems, but I do have the battery in a small canvas carry pouch (not to protect it from the rain, just to make it easier to carry). Scottyshooter36
Thanks guys  I dont really know what i could use? Would wrapping or covering up the battery with a black bin liner or even a black, brownish coat do the trick? Or do you think it would spook the pigeons before they arrived into my pattern? Cheers Scott
activeviii
I have one of my pinewood batteries in the canvas bag it comes with and then the 17amp battery i just put a half shell on top of it, i do this in sun as well just to hide it a little. most rotaries are made with windscreen wiper motors that sits in the front of the car under a grill, it gets wet there so why not in the field. the pinewood is shower proof, made so rain from above cant get into the motor, only if put under water. Teal
I've never had a problem leaving the battery uncovered when I've been out shooting and it rains.
J@mes
don't worry about the battery, you're not going to get good enough conductivity through rain water sitting on it to short the terminals out, and its sealed so rain won't get in. chrispti
Never had any problems leaving magnet or battery out whilst it rained. Just give the magnet a good squirt with WD40 when you get home
