At what range

i've tested it both in the field and on short siberia so i know where my rifle shoots.

45 yards first zero point, 100 yards 1" high, 180 yards second zero point.

And no, i don't just loose off rounds at foxes the second i see them, but i'm damned if i'm going to fiddle around with turrets. Foxes move, generally you call them in and stop them at a nice range and take the shot the second you stop them.

ok if I set mine zero at 100 yards you get the following

50 yards -0.34

100 yards zero

150 yards -0.67

200 yards -2.53

250 yards -5.89

300 yards -11.04

but if I zero an inch high at 100 you get

50 yards +0.16

100 yards + 1.00

150 yards +0.82

200 yards -0.55

250 yards -3.42

300 yards -8.07

Basically it means on foxes boiler room point and shoot to 250 yards, my foxes are off by the time you range them dial it in, go for a slash behind the bushes etc and then have a shot when you're finally ready.

Hi, fine, thanks,

At whatever range that you figure the majority of your shots will be taken. Having done that, poop a few off somewhat nearer and and some further noting the mean point of impact. With these 3 known points, and reference to the readily available ballistic tables you can easily deduce your trajectory. Knowing this you can select a convenient distance of your own choice to quickly check that nothing has altered. Alternatively, now knowing how the round performs you could adjust to give the 1", or whatever, high that has been mentioned to suit your needs. One point to note with all this dialling going on is that with a cheaper 'scope you'll probably get a "wrong number", mid price you may get an answer-phone which unless you get a call back you cant be certain if you dialled correctly. A good quality item may well produce the result but suffice to say they all need checking.

Cheers
