djrwood
Need some advice. I know it is illegal to disturb nesting birds. But is it illegal/frowned upon to shoot crows as they come in to land in their nests. Theres a row of trees where i have permission to shoot that has several large nests in and a large number of crows are back and forth all day long. I was hoping to nestle myself in the tree line and hit the little ******* as they come in but didnt know if this shouldnt be done as i dont want to leave nests full of starved young even if they are little nasty *******. Is there a difference between shooting the same crows out in the field to shooting them as they come to nest? Many Thanks Dan
PaulABF
Use No3 or 4 shot and take the nests and young out too. No survivors to go hungry.

M ROBSON
Not enough people control the Carrion Crows on their permissions. 3" magnum and blow it clean out of the nest! Carrion Crows are territorial and nest on their own. But in your case I believe you are talking about a Rookery. If you want to thin them out wait till the youngsters are out and shoot them as "branchers" before they can fly properly. Better still, decoy them into the first cut of silage at the end of the month. Cheers, Mark.
steve_b_wales
Use No3 or 4 shot and take the nests and young out too. No survivors to go hungry. Wait until the Crow's are sitting on the nests, then shoot them.

Many Thanks Dan I do hope youre using a shotgun?? as your post does not make this clear- and as said heavy shot 3, 4 or even 5's would do the job Good luck Les

Only shot on the land once so far and only had a few. Going one evening this week depending on the weather and will hopefully bash a few. I got some fiocchi 3" Magnums 56g 3 shot so they should do the trick. Cheers Dan
