Blunderbuss
.....what my number one favourite pastime is This nest is in a sycamore tree in my front garden. I've just cut all round it with a petrol mower then set up a step ladder within 6 feet to take the picture. How come when I'm decoying, pigeons half a mile away about turn if I so much as twitch or f@rt in the hide! Before anyone suggests it, this nest and all it's residents are safe. No crops in or near my garden and I do like to give em a bit of a rest this time of year. And TBH, I'm quite enjoying observing an important part of the life cycle of my favourite quarry up close and personal. Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
I think most pigeons nest within gardens and villages towns and citys I rarely see nests in open countryside. The amount of birds I shot on the land where the new honda rail link site near swindon all the birds use to come from stratton . sitsinhedges
I have worked converting farm buildings that had pigeon nests in the eaves. We could work our way along with a Paslode nail gun banging studs on to within a hands width of a pigeon sitting on a nest and they would not budge. Quite remarkable how brave motherhood makes them Edited May 9, 2010 by sitsinhedges
steve_b_wales
We have a woodpigeon nesting just outside our fence in work. It's no more than 20ft high and it's the 3rd year that th pigeon has returned to lay her eggs (at least it looks like the same one!)
