Not so big 7 point freak head, nice all the same!

Saw lots (15+) of nice 6 point bucks with great potential this morning.

We also shot a buck with a broken back leg, looks like a fence double wire.

Shot 13 bucks so far over 15 outings, hope it continues!

Cheers,

Mark.

Does this mean there are Infinite Bucks about?!?!?

What do you think! :)

I am lucky enough to shoot over some of the best areas for Roe buck stalking in the UK. I also stalk on private land where some of the owners aren't too bothered about seeing high numbers of Roe. I also border ground where nobody is allowed to stalk and there are even more on there! We have plenty of feeding and good habitat here to support the population, this morning we saw around 60 Roe of which 15 or so were good clean bucks. Several young bucks with large 6 point heads and some bucks that should be good medal class beasts next year.

I only do a limited amount of buck stalking each year, around 3 weeks and look to shoot around 25 bucks. last year we had 28 bucks over 40 outings, the year before 21 bucks. If I target a buck and don't get him this year then he can wait till next year, the biggest buck we shot last year was on my wish list for 3 years before we finally caught up with him.

Both crackers Mark, and the bigger one looks to have plenty weight.I sold a few abnorms on fleabay and the germans are very keen on them.I think they are worth keeping but where do they go?9 on the wall is enough,or so the missus keeps saying

I know what your saying, not many women like heads on the wall. Some of mine are up at my mums B+B, my Mrs wouldn't have any in the house!

I don't really get that problem any more as most of my bucks are shot by clients, you get the same buzz just not pulling the trigger.

These ones will go to Denmark with the stalker that shot them.

Cheers,

Mark.

V,

I stalk over about 12,000 acres but shoot Pigeons/Geese/Game/Deer on about 100,000 in total.

Here's a big old buck from this evening, came 7 meters below the high seat.

Nice one thats a lot of ground at least if you see a nice head and you dont get a stalk at it.

It can be left for another year.

Thats another nice looking beast from last night fella.

Thanks V

We saw another small freak 5 point buck this morning, feeding 40 meters away from us. We left it for another year.

I've just spent the last 3 hours cleaning the heads from yesterday.

The middle buck should just go bronze and the far right a silver, the freak between them is heavy enough for bronze but it wouldn't make the points. A good days stalking for 2 clients!

We were out this morning and saw 2 big medal class bucks but were unable to get a shot in the cover.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just had news from Denmark that these heads have been provisionally scored and got a gold and 2 bronze. The gold (on the right) scoring 133.25 cic with 575 grams. It has been force dried and shouldn't loose any more weight.

I would never have thought it would make a gold in this country. :good:

The one we shot in April is much bigger than this. :good:

Cheers,

Mark.

Some very happy clients then Mark.A few years back at Scone,i got a few heads scored. If i remember right, the CIC president was there and scored the heads along with Ian Watson and Dominic Griffiths. You might remember the lad,an old boy from Sweden or similair. He scored higher than Ian on everything, and only deducted 20g for the cut whereas Ian would have taken 60g off for it.The difference between judge to judge is quite wide and as you say, that head getting gold in Denmark maybe would not have made gold here.
