bitmonkey
Hi all, I'm in East Sussex (Hastings) and an experienced air rifle hunter looking for shooting land to hunt mainly rabbit, wood pigeon and squirrel. I haven't hunted for a while (no permission), but am looking to get back into it. I'm responsible, humane, treat land as I would want it to be treated if it were mine, and will be getting insurance as soon as I get a permission before shooting it. I'd want to shoot about once a week, more as needed if the landowner has a pest problem. Although, as I said, edible quarry is my main reason for shooting I'm quite happy controlling vermin for the landowner if it's needed. Hope someone here can help me out. Of course I will be doing the door to door thing, and don't necessarily expect this post to turn up much, but hopefully I can at least meet a few local shooters and maybe share permissions in future etc. Good shooting. bitmonkey
Hi Snakebite, One possible at the moment and he's asked if I can come back and ask him again in the new year - sounded fairly positive. Still looking elsewhere. Thanks.

bitmonkey
Thanks. I won't give up this time. Spent about 3 months looking unsuccesfully last time and just lost hope really. I have had permissions in the past though so I know how you often get it when you least expect it, I'm sure something will turn up soon. Cheers. SNAKEBITE
Try the big(ish) houses. They sometimes have large gardens plus paddocks etc. Get 2 or 3 of those next to each other and you have a nice little shoot.

bitmonkey
Hi all, Well I got permission at last! - Going to go for my FAC and get a rimfire, ever since I found out just how quiet they are firing subs. So to all those who are trying unsuccessfully, I hope I can offer a word or two of encouragement. Just keep at it - if you are genuinely a responsible and safe shooter then you are going to be doing someone a favour by shooting their land for them. It's just a matter of catching someone at the right time when they are aware of a pest problem and want it sorted. Now if I can just get some land to decoy pigeons on....... bitmonkey
Yes, we seem to be the albino squirrel population centre of the UK. Mushty/Hunter - I have nowhere suitable for a shotgun at the moment, only a night shoot which I can use a silenced .22 on, but I will get back to you if I find somewhere as I am looking at the moment, maybe we should get the 3 of us together for a beer and discuss sharing the load of asking farmers? Between the lot of us we should be able to cover more ground more quickly - I haven't heard of a syndicate round here before, so maybe we'd be the first. Anyhow, if you fancy the idea drop me a PM. Cheers Paul
DTH
How did you boys get on? I've recently got a shared permission on a golf course but to be honest it seems to be shoot every day and not much to be got there. If you know of of any free land (if is still exisits out there) that you dant have the time or numbers to shoot drop us a line, I have two family members that join me, we tend to use air rifles and one has his shoot gun where allowed.
