lurcherboy
That reminds me of the time I decided my 13 y/o should move up to an adult load. Stood behind him and told him that this cart would have a bit of a kick to it. I caught him a second later, he didn't seem to mind, just like that young one in the video. Dunkield
i don't c how that kid would enjoy being blown onto his **** every time he fires, and when he is older he will develop a terrible flinch before he fires I let me son fire my .22 first to see how he got with that - unfortunatley very well indeed :*) After a bit of badgering I let him fire my stalking rilfle while I video'd it, and his face afterwards was a picture. He now likes my .223 best of all, and shoots pretty good groups with that. HB, You have made a valid point there, I had shot with a .375 H&H at a range this year, and having seen the way the owner flinched I refused to fire it prone. I shot it off sticks and it wasn't too bad a bang. The owner shoots into his flinch as it is now almost incurable having spent so much time shooting plains game calibres. henry c
it seems stupid, the lad needs a .410 or 28bore.

BountyHunter
How old do you chaps reckon that boy to be? My dear lady wife refuses to let mine have a little air rifle, I think that it'd teach him to be responsible, he is already really good at stalking / walking up and has a healthy regard for my gun and the quarry. jim38curl
I got my son a training shotgun for his 7th bday. Thought i'd let him use that for a couple of years first and then if he's incident free and responsible with it while he's out with me i'll consider letter him use an air rifle and then a .410 / 28g. Usual gun rules apply. He gets it out to use in the field and at home to clean it only. Rest of the time it's locked in the gun cabinet. spider.20
bounty hunter try wot i did on my parents for the wife. i nagged them then got a bb gun first you know the 6mm soft air type. they only go up to about a joule energy. you can teach the nipper about gun saftey an the basics of target training with it then move one up to an air pistol( i got a nemisis). and continue training but you'll get better groups with the pistol and he'll know about saftey and how to look after his gun. then once your happy he can shoot well and safely an respects his gun get him a nice springer an work with him on targets till he can get a nice group at 30yrds. by then he's ready for the field and you can go get some rabbits for tea! oh an the 6mm bb guns are awesome fun. get 2 coz you won't put it down once you ping off those first few shots. hope this is of use spider
