Thought I'd pop in and say hello.

I used to shoot a Webley Viscount .22 side cocker when I was a kid but not shot for years.

Fancied getting back into it recently and was browsing Gumtree this afternoon and spotted an ad "2 air rifles for sale £100" and gave the guy a call.... popped round and ended up with the following for £60:

  • BAM(??) XS-B19 .22 with 4x28 scope & bag
  • MK6 BSA Airsporter .22 with 4x40 scope and bag

The XS-B19 is apparently a Gamo 400 copy from china but it's in good nic and actually shoots really well... after zeroing it in from 15m I was getting pellets right through two 12.5mm sheets of drywall plasterboard in a consistent 2inch grouping, not sure if that's any good?

The BSA Airsporter has been one VERY unloved rifle  It's in a right state, lots of rust and everything just feeling very loose so I stripped it down a bit and re-seated all the pins, oiled bits, just a quick once over then put it back together and tightened everything up properly... I'll say one thing, for an old rifle that looked like it might have been ready for the bin it don't half shoot well! Same as above, 2 inch grouping, clean through 25mm of plasterboard and then some..

So that's it so far... the chinese thing will do as a spare or one for mates to borrow I guess. The BSA is going to be my little project, I think with a little TLC it could be saved, going to completely strip it, get every screw and pin replaced, new spring & seals/bushes etc then as for the rusty metal I think i'll just rub it all down, prime and paint it all a nice matt black. Will fit new iron sights and also sand down then re-vanish (what do people use??) the stock.

In the meantime I'm on the lookout for a 2nd hand BSA Lightning XL and go for the Theoben Gas Ram conversion, if anyone knows of one for sale please give me a shout!

Will be on here lots in the next while so thought I'd give a wee intro

Cheers!
