Kes
Hello fellow reloaders, as per the title. I use a Lee Resizing die and adjust to obtain a good bullet fit. I shoot a Remington .223, with 40 grain Hornady V - Max. Typically my preferred load of Vit 133 (26.0) is capable of giving a group of 4 of 5 in a 1" circle at 150yds. The touch point for my .223 is 1.900 and this seems to work with the resizing only - any advice/suggestions as to whether a crimp would be better would be most welcome together with recommendation for which crimp die would do the job. Vince Green
use minimal crimp only.Just enough to turn the neck of the case over. The lee die will give you a crimp if you adjust it right. If you are OK the way you are don't bother. steve_b_wales
I use a light crimp on all my reloads (22-50 & .243) I can't honestly say though that doing this improves accuracy.
Harnser
I have always crimped both rifle and pistol rounds . I am convinced that crimping aids accuracy ,proberbly by giving you the same neck tention on every round . The Lee cpmpany will say that most world accuracy records were achieved by crimping with a lee factory crimp die . Harnser .
Kes
many thanks for your advice lads - I'll probably pick up a Lee crimping die - they aren't too expensive and try a batch with and woithout and see which produces the most consistent results. I'll post the results at a future date. Thanks again
