docholiday
This is Ed Macy's account of flying the Apache helicopter in Afghanistan in 2006 When I started this book I was a little dissapointed at the writing style as it seemed a little childish and poorley written, however some of the information was interesting and I read a little every night. It didnt give you that grip in the pit of your stomach that most of these books do when you feel the fear and just dont want to be there. Anyway about half way through he gets to the real point of the book which is a rescue of a marine missing in action. The book then becomes one of those greats that I defy anybody to put down. Once again unless you have been in the services you get an insight into the meaning of service, friendship and unbelievably high standards. This book when it gets going is a real belter and a bit of a tear jerker. I shed a tear... Respect to those who serve this country. This one also gets a ten out of ten, go read, also has links to pictures and videos on the web  Doc Edited July 22, 2010 by docholiday
Troosers Too
I have to agree with the Doc here. Once he gets to the the fort rescue, I was absolutely gripped. The description is so intense & vivid that I was there with him (Wetting myself & being clueless - but there!). Big hats off to all the men & women of the armed forces from me - you truly are an inspiration. TT
