1967spud
I was out feeding tonite and had a couple off shots at longish pigeons on the barley stubbles and connecting with them, i would say that they were about 300-350 yards. Any way i am on the way home and cutting across some stubble to my house when i go round the corner of a cover crop, and what do i see but a ******* biggish cub then stalking a covey of partridges. Well i was out with the gun, .243 and i got ready on the bonnet the cub was about 250 yards no more. I had a good solid rest on bipod and folded arms all was looking good. The fox look like a donkey on 15 power in my scope, i gentley squeezed the trigger and i ******* missed. I had left about 3/4 MOA off elevation dialled in on my bloody scope from the ealier shooting. And to make matters worse it was my last bullet. And i got it all on camera. Enjoy, dont be to hard on me. 1/2 an hour later and the other side off the wood , it being about 60 yards wide this happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_OQygkKV7 Enjoy. Spud Should have waited until it was side onto you before shooting, lucky you missed you would have only injured it anyway, as it was facing away from you. Better shot the 2nd video, hate it when they run on before dropping, makes finding it a lot harder when grass is long and its dark oclock

Frenchieboy
Nice one Spud. I loved the look that Charlie gave you after the first shot as if to say "If that's the best you have to offer you had better go away and get some more practice in". He certainly stayed around long enough after the shot, it's a pity you weren't ready with a follow up but not to worry. In the second video I am not sure if that was the same fox as the first. The first fox seemed very "laid back" about the whole affair but I'm sure the second fox must have been related to Micheal Flatley the way he skipped and danced around the field after you whacked him! Good shooting mate!

I only said that in jest so that I could use my warped sence of humour in my reply! You have to admit that the fox was a hell of a dancer though - I haven't seen anything or anyone dance like that since I took the wife camping and hid a live HedgeHog in her sleeping bag! sleekitfox
if only i had a crystal ball i would have waited but as i was standing by a dirty great land rover on fresh stubble time was not on my side this time THEN DONT SHOOT !!! If the shot doesn't present itself, DONT take the chance, how would have felt if you had injured the fox, and it ran off with a gaping wound in its rear leg. Looking at your video it was a young cub, and if you know anything about FOXES you should know that it was on fresh stubble hunting out voles, mice, beetles etc. you had all the time in the world...... everything was on your side, as we can all see !!! You shot and missed the fox was bewildered, it looked up and most likely seen your dirty great landrover, and what did it do, carried on as if nothing had happened. No need for a crystal ball...just a little common sense When we post Video footage for all to see....Remember all the comments you receive are not all good, its great when folk say great video nice shooting, but we dodnt all like critisism, which this is, take it in your stride and LEARN FROM IT. If i hadn't seen part 1 of the video and only seen part 2, i would have been the 1st to say great video and nice shooting (which it was) but i seen part 1 and i am giving you my honest opinion based on what i seen. Keep up the good work... Videos and Shooting as many Foxes as you can.
