Holland & Holland or Bisley

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just wondered if anyone has any experience of corporate/group shoots at either H&H or Bisley.

I've contacted them both (as I'm arranging a shooting day for members of a cigar forum) and they've come back with virtually identical offers (same price, but H&H include free tea/coffee and a probable opportunity to shoot a H&H gun).

If anyone's got any experience of these grounds, could you let me know your thoughts, please? I'm a west country lad and haven't shot around London before. I'd be particularly interested in anyone who's shot at either (or even better, both) as part of a corporate day or organized group day.

Thank you in advance.

Drop Catamong a private mesage I am fairly sure he has shot both.

We shot the Bisley layout, it is OK but certainly nothing special, I would say West Wycombe is better and that isn't mind blowing.

I would imagine H&H is better still but can't comment as I haven't been there.

Have you looked at Royal Berks or West London?

Cigar forum? whatever next

Thank you for your advice. (Nothing strange about a cigar forum... surely... )

I did look at WLSS, their quote was about 50% more than the other two.

Just looked at those three initially as accessibility is key. There are people coming from quite a distance, so getting to the ground from central London (hotels/train/tube) was important. I'll certainly bear the others in mind for the future, the Royal Berks ground looks great on their website (may visit myself).

I get treated to a fair bit of corporate shooting - West London is very good and so is Holland and Holland, but i think if they want the "wow" factor, then Bisley is the winner. You can hire the shooting lodge for coffee and bacon rolls in the morning and they can also do a very nice barbecue lunch in the pavilion next door to it after you've shot. The instructors are all pleasant, patient and very, very helpful. As for transport, Brookwood station is about 2 miles down the road and there are various cab firms in the vicinity - Journey time to/from London Waterloo is around 40 minutes and the trains are pretty regular.

Thanks for the extra input everyone. It's not a corporate do per se, it's just a group of friends/acquaintances making an excuse for getting together at the end of October.

The Colonial Lodge at Bisley was certainly a big draw. I've put it to the guys though, and it was a unanimous verdict for H&H. Maybe Bisley next year (am looking at making it annual).
