Lanber_sporter
Hello, I have been shooting clays for a couple of years and have now decided to try and get some land, luckly the first farmer i spoke to was crying out for me to shoot over his rape in a couple of weeks from now as no one shot it last year and it got hammered. Question is, i have done a bit of rough shooting before but not decoying and wondered how important rotary devices are as i'm a little hesitant to fork out for lots of decoy equipment before i actually know what the land is going to be like. Can I get going with some decoy shells? obviously want to have a good couple of first days to secure the land going forward. Any advice would be appreciated!! Cheers
pigeonblasterian
Rotarys can draw them in but they can put the pigeons off as well.I use shells at first then i prefer to just use the green garden sticks you get from garden centres to mount pigeons in a pattern.Usually take a couple of bouncers with me and set them up as soon as i can. Cranfield
Starting with some shell decoys and then adding other items as you go along is the sensible way. Also keep you eyes open at Boot Fairs, local Auctions, our For Sale sections and anywhere else you are likely to see some secondhand decoys, nets, etc., for sale. stubby
I started off with just a dozen shell decoys, then added bits and bobs as time went on
