Marty J
Try it. I added .223 to my application after it went in and they granted it no problem.

clayman
An application is only an application, the worst that can happen is its refused now, so ask for it and see what happens. Does not stop a refusal now and a new application later. The FEO is interested in knowing that you have a reason for the calibre, permission and space to use it, and its appropriate for the use required, ie what vermin you wish to use it on. Don't think of t as a "mistake", just get your reasons in place for the interview and go for it.
Dekers
If you have the land and reason then the .243 should not be an issue, just ring up your firearms dept and ask to add it to your application!

Marty J
how long was your application in and how long did it take to get your fac with northumbria force ? It had been in two weeks, I asked the FLO when he visited. It took about 7 weeks to get my FAC, I don'tknow how long they're taking for grants at the minute. Dekers
so if i ring up and explain that the landowner has just asked if i would be able to do fox control for him,do you think this explanation would be ok dekers? .243 is a recognised fox calibre in the Home Office Guide. If you can show your farmer has the land and wants you to deal with it and the police think the land is suitable there should not be a problem. The reality is many regions insist on a mentor now even for rimfires, so they may not be too keen, but put your case and give it a try. One thing, if it really looks like its is going pear shaped, then withdraw your application, do not get a formal refusal!
