ironhorse
I have shot with 12 gauges for 40 years from an old black power single in my youth, to various other makes of 12 gauge, S/S and O/U shotguns, I have never spent allot on guns the most I’ve ever spent was on a Beretta silver pigeon, which I could not get to grips with and sold back to the shop, for me the Rizzini multy choke has been the gun I found suited me best, However a friend passed on a copy of sporting gun to me recently and I found a picture and review of the Yildiz 20 gauge, I instantly liked the look of it and decided to take a look next time at my local gun shop, after looking at and mounting the gun in the shop it just felt right, my only reservation was it’s a 20 gauge, I have never used a 20 gauge and also I shoot with full and 3 quarter chokes with 6 shot so having to be slightly more accurate when shooting pigeon, anyway knowing all this I went ahead and bought the Yildiz with the slight worry that I may have made a costly mistake. My first visit to the fields with this gun proved to be a very good decision, I set the gun up with the same chokes as in my 12 gauge full and 3 quarter, what a pleasure this gun is to use, light, comes to the shoulder with great ease very little kick and has very good hitting power, the Yildiz 20 gauge is also a good looking gun and well made I never would have thought I would be using a 20 gauge. So there you have it if you ever thought of buying a 20 gauge give the Yildiz a look.
sitsinhedges
Another vote for the 20g here :( Walking around with a nippy 6 pound 20 or a lumping great 7 1/2 pound 12 is a no brainer and I found that Gamebore 28gram Traditional Game 6s kill as well as any cartridge I've used with very mild recoil
activeviii
hull high pheasant are a good one as well. love shooting it as already said, light to swing but still hits birds but without the bigger bang and kick of the 12g I'm about to sell my cheap 20g in order to upgrade to a multi choke. HDAV
I'm about to sell my cheap 20g in order to upgrade to a multi choke. How cheap? Don't you find the 20 gives more kick than a 12 for the same load?
activeviii
How cheap? Don't you find the 20 gives more kick than a 12 for the same load? cheap as in £180. its only an investarm the kick is so soft its hard to explain. there is not really a bang either. bird comes in and you pull the trigger on it, bird drops. you think ' how the hell did that happen' its a wiered sound/feeling but my gosh it does the job. Bluebarrels
I bought a 20g for my boy, however hes not that interested, so i take it out pretty often in fact i take it out more than my 12g of late, cracking fun and drops decoyed crow/pigeons as well as any 12g only downside in my opinion is the price of 20g shells against the price of 12g shells, but it wont break the bank, just yet BB Edited August 30, 2010 by Bluebarrels
BIG 5
I had a Yildiz 410. Lovely wood but poor quality gun. Pay the price and get Browning, full stop. You will not loose money on a good gun of quality when you sell. A sound investment and a pleasuer to own if you look after it. Buy NO YILDIZ. ironhorse
I had a Yildiz 410. Lovely wood but poor quality gun. Pay the price and get Browning, full stop. You will not loose money on a good gun of quality when you sell. A sound investment and a pleasuer to own if you look after it. Buy NO YILDIZ. As I said in my earlier post, I have owned and shot many guns including the browning I don’t make comment on guns I have no knowledge of, there is little or no comparison between a 410 and a 20 bore be it a Yildiz or a browning, most 410 shotguns were not designed to be pretty they were simply a farm yard gun, a means to an end. Might I suggest before putting the Yildiz 20 bore down you take a look at it. Your Browning /Beretta some of your cash is attached to the makers name, I’ve owned both from new, build quality of the browning is good but Beretta is better, but when out pigeon shooting the Yildiz does the job well and in looks mimics to a degree the Beretta, I’ll say it again build quality of the Yildiz is good very good, I don’t write this to see my words in print it’s fact.
