Dekers
I got this WMR brand new last December, very happy with it, barrel cut down to 19" and a SAK is perfectly adequate. Unfortunately irritation started quickly as the stock is slightly shorter than my Silhouettes due to the original very slim plastic recoil pad, and the wood was VERY soft, marking at the slightest suggestion of a knock. Had a long chat with Sage from UK Gun Repairs and sent the stock away for a little work, a complete strip and a few goes at bringing the grain up and hardening the wood, then a completely natural finish, of beeswax etc (Sage may put me right on the exact formula), and a new recoil pad. I'm very happy with the result as you can imagine, and very impressed with the work, all the dents have gone and it looks great. This is a standard CZ American stock (Turkish Walnut allegedly), I'd say it looks impressive! http://www.####.co.uk/ Thanks to all at UK Gun Repairs for their help but a special thanks to Sage! kyska
Looks great, I've always fancied a wmr, got a slot, just have never bought one. Lovely gun
robc89
Looks good!! I have recently got a SAKO quad in synthetic and the stock fits me perfect. The only thing im not keen on is the SAK mod. Im thinking along the lines of an over the barrel job (wildcat or DM80). What scope do you use? JRDS
Very nice, how much was the work if you don't mind me asking?
Dekers
Very nice, how much was the work if you don't mind me asking? It would not be fair or reasonable to say how much it cost for the simple reason an awful lot of work went into this. All I will say is that this was VERY good value for money and less than I had budgeted for! Have a word with http://www.####.co.uk/ Talk to Sage or Peter, or Chris, or, well anyone really, and the odds are they will be able to quote you on the phone. Each to their own on Mods but my view on the Wildcat Whisper is that it's the biggest waste of £125 going. In addition, Shooting Times tests showed the SAK is quieter and a lot cheaper. DM80 isn't too bad. Cheap and cheerful scope, the build quality is rubbish but the Optics are excellent value! http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/rifle...riflescope.html
robc89
yeah i think i will be changing mine as its faulty (goes blurry after mag 10) I got it for free so cant complain! Yeah DM80 is prob a better bet!
Dekers
Floated the barrel properly a few days back and tried it at Bisley today. I use several types and weights of ammo but my new WMR does seem to rather like the Hornady 30g V-Max, far more than my last. I tried 4 types of WMR ammo at 200Yard Short Siberia today and even though it was gusty I was getting around 2" groups with the Hornady, so in still conditions it would have been tighter. I'm perfectly happy with that at 200 yards for the WMR!!
