steve0146
I'm not at all car minded. Just bought a very second hand mitsubishi pajero. Filled it up today for the first time and as the fuel got to the top, the fuel poured all over the garage forecourt. Is this normal? Is there some sort of over flow. J@mes
filler neck could be rotten or loose!
Dave-G
filler neck could be rotten or loose! A faulty filler nozzle at the pump that didn't detect the tank was full perhaps? Worth trying another pump if you can't find any other reason. You haven't indicated which area the leak became apparent. steve0146
It never came out of the top. It poured out of the bottom of the car, just above the wheel. I looked at it at home. Touched the area and a piece of the car just fell off. Plus the handbrake failed yesterday. Bought the car from a dealer on monday!!! Phoned him at home tonight and he said he will have alook. Surely selling a car with no handbrake is illegal?
silpig5
the words roadworthy and fit for purpose spring to mind . you are well within yr rights to have it fixed or money back .
nickcass23
How did ya get on with the dealer? I would have asked for a refund! There are loads of nice Pajeros around and private sales are better if ya take someone along who knows the basics! I owned a Pajero 2.8SWB for several years and it was the second best car I ever had(L200 is the best). Dont be put off! Awesome 4x4 sold mine last year for £1850 on a M plate could very easily asked for more! sold to 1st person!-Loved that car!!!
steve0146
Well...... The handbrake failed and i nearly hit a car so took it for someone to look at. The overflow had rusted off the car (it was actually missing) and the main pipe was leaking through the rust holes. Plus crash damage underneath when it went up on the ramps. It under warrenty so had a few words with the dealer and mentioned trading standards, legal action etc and its getting fixed up. To be fair to him, he had only just bought it and it had a brand new MOT. Yet it had two bald tyres and broken reflectors. (I knew about them and it was mentioned in the price before i bought it) This is only a 52 plate!! I love the car though.
stu_young
i knew a car dealer like that... could get a MOT on anything even if it was fit for the scrap yard
activeviii
i would get a new mot done and then go back to him and ask for the things to be put right. if its a 2.8 the watch the fuel pump. if the motor cuts out just after you get off up the road on a morning then point a finger at the fuel pump seal. only cost £5 for parts but it will set you back £150-£200 to get it fixed. oil, filters every 6mnths and you'll be ok. go to milners for filter and that. i had a service done at mitzy as i needed a fault code cleared and they said they would do in with the service and i would only pay parts. £180 later i walked out with a sore ****. £26 plus £6P+P from milners. says it all really. oh mines shagged by the way. turbos blown, heaters gone and aircon dead. only bought last year from forecourt so again i was see coming. then i suck it in a ditch.lmao. need to sort it but its still running. Phil.
mag357
I have Pajero 2.8 SWB on a "L" plate. Bought from dealer in 4x4 imports but had loads of proplems. Only got 13 MPG when I bought it (It was cheap). Took it to a spealist diesel engine company and got it sorted. Injector internals renewed, fuel pump all seals replaced and re calibrated. All hoses replaced and radiator replaced as original was blocked solid and rotten. All filters replaced and now I get 23/26 MPG average....try to lean it off any more and it becomes difficult to start. Had it about 3 months and got stuck it 4WD, transverse box rusted solid....no fluid for several years.Got recon box put in and now it will go anywhere, although with what I have spent on it I could of bought a new landcruiser...lol.
