Norrie
Hi, looking at purchasing a Nissan Navara 2006,twin cab, 2.5 Diesel. Anybody got one or have any experience of them? Also plus or negative points? Thanks As I type this, my mates 55 plate Navara is in at Nissan getting a new Turbo....seemingly a very common fault on them is the fins on the turbo breaking... And, not too sure about the 2006 plated ones, but get the big end bearing bolts checked out, they break, and will lead to engine seizure....again, my mates has had a new engine....before he bought it I might add.. Comfort ??, awful.....we were at the Glamis show a fortnight ago, and another mate and his son were in the back, they were in agony during and after the trip home...a journey of maybe 60 miles... Personally, I drive a Mitsy, and the Navara couldnt lace its boots...its (IMHO ) not a vehicle I'd buy.... I've driven it a fair bit, so can make a reasonable comparison.... My mate really regrets buying it, and getting rid of his Izusu Denver...I can if you like, PM you his number, he'll tell you in more detail what the car is like... Check out the t'internet , there are loads of off road sites to give you much better info.. heres one for starters.. http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews100692.html Good luck tho'... artschool
i had a nissan navara king cab outlaw. they all got recalled to fit a new half shaft from memory, so make sure that was done. i had no problems with the truck, good mpg (35ish) and the load bed seemed to be larger than the competition. i did get the feeling that all the interior bits and bobs had been slapped on. that all said i really liked it and only sold because i wasnt able to be a baby seat in the back! Edited September 19, 2010 by artschool
tikabenelli
Hi, looking at purchasing a Nissan Navara 2006,twin cab, 2.5 Diesel. Anybody got one or have any experience of them? Also plus or negative points? Thanks Hi I got a 2006 outlaw and had it for 3 years its got 60000 miles on it and I cant fault it. when buying it I test drove them all and the nissan was head and shoulders above the toyota mitsubishi and the isuzu in every way space, fuel consumption, comfort and everything. the nissan was the most expensive but definately worth the extra money. I take mine off road a minimum of once a week and it is very capable [ a lot more so than my brothers L200]. I would definately recomend the nissan. We have had a couple that we use on our game shoot, got rid of both after serious mechanical faults. As above I also drive a mitsi and it is head & shoulders above the Nissan. L200 are more agricultural granted - but I personally wouldnt touch another Nissan with a stick - just search the net you will find lots of common Navara faults. ebygum32
We used them for blue light response but they got pulled when a crew rolled one on the motoway not on blue lights both serious injured but making good recovery, they gave us disco 4 now police spec Did hear that the nacap safety rating was a 1 and that was generous, but don't quote me on it

Thats all for the d22 navara's not the 2006 onwards d40 navara's. D40 seems to be a lot better half shaft re call, prop uj's and if abused clutch / flywheel and wheel bearings Other than that seem ok. p.s. i work in the motor trade

MITCHF
My good mate sold a Disco 3 for a Navara, an 07 plate. Just pad £950 for a new clutch, it's mint with 44k on. He's selling after 10 months, hates it. They look the part if you want looks but if you want reliable and capable Hilux or Denver. Good Luck PS. He does very very little off road, maybe a wet field

From reading that all problems was on early models and they got re called and put right
Gordon R
I am not convinced they were all re-called and fixed.

Blackbart
The turning circle is about 4 x miles. It`s blooming awful...shunt, shunt, shunt, shunt, shunt. Try an early merc ML A train would be a comparison in turning circles. The early navaras did have lots of problems and most seem sorted, but if you ask on here or any other forum then you will get people that has had good uns and others that have had or heard of dogs.If it is second hand get one with full service history and get a mechanic to check it over before parting with cash.
