wymberley
Yep, many years ago. Superb clarity, Mine was a wide angle version - like looking at your computor screen but with rounded corners - very quick target aquisition, ideal at night - saved flashing the lamp all over the place putting Freddy in the next county. I'm sure someone on a recent thread said that Redfield are now in bed with Leupold. Cheers
Beardo
used to be the US military standard sniper scopes in the 70's/80's - very good kit at the time, couldn't tell you what they're like these days though
Graham M
Had a Redfield 3200 fixed 20X on my match rifle for use in "Any sights" competitions. Absolutely brilliant optics. I did hear that they had some problems concerning pollution some years ago and went bust, but maybe they just sold their technology to Leupold. G.M. wymberley
Nick and Graham, yep, both comments make sense. Bought mine in the big BX at Weisbaden in '77 and their website confirms being wedded to leupold and excluding other optical products, it would seem they have , now, just one sight on the market. Rem223
I bought a 4x in the early eighties when the factory was in Colorado (if memory serves) and it was superb. The new Redfields though are pretty much rebranded Leupold VX1's. They are as far as I am aware made in Beaverton, Oregon by Leupold. I expect he Leupold VX1 range will disappear in the next year or so.
