Last year sent about 30 letters out asking for permission when I got my air rifle...had two replies back..

Went and met the farmer and he said I could have permission for 1 small field and see how we go.....Use to go up when I could which was not often due to new baby and new house but kept sending the odd text to let him know I had not forgotten about it then always let him know when I was there and how I got on..offered to give him a hand if he wanted/needed and got him him a bottle of brandy at christmas..

Spoke to him earlier this week and he wanted me to go up tonight and go out with him...Got there and he said he was not in the mood but I could carry on..Went for a walk but nothing about..got back and went to say bye to him...said I needed to come into his home and he wanted to speak to me...Thought the worse as you do... Gave me a map of all his land and said I have free roam of it all which is 300+ acres. Also asked if I wanted to put in for my shotgun and FAC as he would help me do it all as I have impressed him with the work I have done and the extra offers of help and he will speak to a few of his friends and recommend me to them.

So dont give up looking and if you get a look in no matter how small it is keep in regular contact to let them know you have not forgotten about it and keep looking...door knocking and letters do work.
