MM
I have a Coleman lamp which i use for fishing and camping, but it wont hold pressure. The pump seems to be knackered. Has anybody replaced one of these before, as i dont want to buy a new one (not cheap) and its a good bit of kit. I cant hear anything broke inside, just that the pump is very 'free' working. njc110381
I'm fairly sure you can get a seals pack/service kit for these. Much better than splashing out on a new assembly? EDIT... Or e-mail Coleman and tell them of the problem. Their customer service is very good. I sent them a letter years ago stating that my Northstar lantern blew it's mantles far too regularly. By return of post I got a box of about 50 spare mantles! I'll never use them all! Edited September 28, 2010 by njc110381

4eyes
I have both lamps and cookers from Coleman. The rubber cup on the pump tends to split after a while/no oil. Really easy to replace. No need to buy a new lamp/cooker. Spares are easy to get from any camping/outdoor store, just not Blacks. They tell you 'cant be done, buy a new one' - a**se!! If not try flebay. Usualy can pick up the pump with new seal for a tenner. Little field trick is to take the pump out and run a liberal amount of vasaline round the edge fo rht pump cup. Usually this works for a little while, certainly enough to get the all importnant brew on!!!

Vince Green
Try The Base Camp for anything like that. Also Tilley, primus etc Edited September 28, 2010 by Vince Green
MM
As advised i bought a new seal kit and fitted it this morning. The old split seal was made of rubber, so i was suprised to see the Coleman replacements are leather after cleaning the inside of the pump cylinder, i fitted the leather washer and applied a good amount of oil to it. After a gentle squeeze, it slotted in fine, and now works very well An easy fix, considering i nearly binned a £60 lamp
