suggs
recently seem to be suffering this problem, most times i shoot we will do 2 sessions of sporting and as my scores have increased over recent months i seem to get this happen, go and shoot a blinder first round and hit 57/70 yesterday and then second round same traps dropping shots all over the place and ending up with 45/70 done the same last week too but yesterday was the worse for it. only thing that changed between rounds was that we had to buy some carts and they were not the brand that we normaly use, could that make such a big differance. funny thing was my shooting buddy had the same issue yesterday.. maybe its our tiny brains only being able to concentrate for one round lol Edited October 31, 2010 by suggs
Chris Bb
To me, 57/70 is a pretty good score, about the same percentage I get, when on form, ex 50. Having said that, I usually score much the same second time round, sometimes up a few sometimes down. Could it be that two rounds of 70 each is just too tiring? I have never shot more than two rounds of 50 and at practice sessions usually pack up at 100.
suggs
yeah could be, i tend to be pretty focused to get mid-late 50's so maybe a case of second round the brains getting tired lol ps i see your a fellow 325 owner, i love mine best gun ive ever had my hands on.. Marcus
The carts might have had an effect. When I started I was sticking a different box of carts through every 250. My shooting was all over the place. Idea was to experience different carts, and how I / Gun got on with them. I eventually settled on a make and now only use them when possible and my scores have improved. Whilst fatigue may have had a hand in it the change in carts prob cost you a few as well. tony-devon
probably partly fatigue? but a large portion I expect might be the change of cartridges, if your thinking about it too much, then it will surely affect your shooting? maybe your going into the second round mentally thinking that your not going to do as well as you have different cartridges? hey presto, negative vibes! Chard
It's just a concentration thing. 90% of clay shooting is in your head and it's hard to keep your concentration good for long periods. Some find it easier than others. I'm hopeless, I'm notorious for it. If I shoot a 200 bird competition, with two courses of 100 birds on the same day, I'll generally do OK on the first course and fall apart on the second. Head's gone. If I could sort my head out, I'd probably be a half-decent clay shooter, but I can't
100milesaway
Oh YES you can. Don't beat yourself up.When i first started to shoot my scores in the first year hovered around the 50% in the next year i got slightly better at around55% , the next year i was tons better averaging 70%, but it took me years and years to really improve on this and then only occassionally did i get a flyer. The best i ever managed was a 91 at a registered event and a 94 at an unregestered one, but the difference with the real shiners in our sport is that they can do this all the time. Every time i get home, i still think that I have enjoyed myself and that the company has been good. so what the heck if i didn't better my best, i still did my best and enjoyed ever second.Chin up and the other two. from Yer Auntie.
