Magpie shooting

My girlfriend has a number of magpies on her parents farm and wants the numbers reduced. The obvious answer is a Larsen trap but they nor I have the time to check it everyday. Iv shot a few with the air rifle and shotgun but wondered if there was a technique used by you that has a high success rate? Iv heard putting a stuffed fox out does draw them in. Or anyone tried the feather Enticer lure thats spins around on a pole? Any suggestions would be great, I would prefer to deal with them with the shotgun if possible.

A tip I once had off an airgunner, was to put a plastic bag out in a field etc, with bread/egg shells hanging out of it. Aslo tie a tin/bread wrapper to the bag and stake the whole lot out. It's supposed to give the impression of a rubbish bag split open. I tried it once and had good results, with magpies and crows being drawn to it.

Hey Pykie,

Next time you drop one of them, lay it out on the ground with it's wings spread out.... the others will go mental round it. :good:

Had good results with this, shooting the first one can be the problem though but there are some good decoys out there. Mate of mind had the idea of making a ferret dummie out of a tennis ball and a stuffed sock for corvids, didnt attract anything but if it had I was laughing so hard I could of hit anything anyway.
