Billy.
So Al4x, did you swap your BFG's for grabbers? As it doesn't look like BF's come in 245's
al4x
BFG's were on my last truck this one had 265 70 16's and road tyres which I swapped for 245 75 16 grabbers. Have a look on event tyres they have both muds and AT's showing at about £150 each fitted :o

Not fitted, but I know the local tyre place will do it cheap enough. So, the question... Are the AT2's up to the task, in comparison the the BFs? Edited December 1, 2010 by Billy. al4x
yes definitely they are a newer design and easily as good as the BFG AT's At that price rip their arm off. Mine were £100 fitted but are out of stock everywhere at the moment

Mine were £100 fitted but are out of stock everywhere at the moment I don't think I'll advertise where I saw them...! I'll see if I can put an order in later on Annoyingly the offer comes with free fitting, if you can pick them up from the garage. It's cost me £100 in diesel, so maybe not! I'm not missing out on this!
Rascal
Thanks for all the suggestions. I managed to get a couple of AT2s but had to ring around 20+ different tyre places, 245/70 16 seem a difficult size to get hold of. One guy rang the importers while I waited and he reckons there is atleast a 2 month back order .... Who's buying them all? Just a couple of track rod ends to replace and I'm back on the road (and in the mud)...
Billy.
The original tyres I wanted to get, but went off for BFGs has been rekindled, since seeing them this lunchtime... What make/size are these, as they seem to have really flat and high walls, which I really like, whilst still being quite thick. I'm always seeing them on Landys, so I suspect they're a tyre that comes as standard on some models. Edited December 1, 2010 by Billy. al4x
they look like BFG AT's but as soon as you go for decent AT tyres they do get a lot squarer, the grabbers look very similar big question will be do you have them the chavy way round or not? the BFG's are good but not £50 a tyre better than the grabbers

Tall and flat sidewalls is what I'm aiming for, so if the AT2's will look like that, then I'm having those. Chavvy way round I take it you mean the lettering? Edited December 1, 2010 by Billy. al4x
funny that if they even had them, probably another ebay trader buying them when needed
Billy.
funny that if they even had them, probably another ebay trader buying them when needed Right, tyre man... I'm clearly not good at this stuff, so you can advise me on this... Seeing as these tyres are impossible to get hold of, I'll just buy some new alloys and get the tyres next year or something. If the alloys I'm eyeing up are 7" wide, does this rule out a load of tyres, or do most tyres just fit the 7" as well as the 6"? (my current tyres just say not to put them on 6.5" rims) I'll get there eventually!

Billy.
All sorted now. On my hunt for apparently 'rare' 245 grabbers, I stumbled across a place selling 245 T/A KO BFGs. Just bought those and hopefully they'll do the trick Edited December 2, 2010 by Billy.

Billy.
Right... Now they're ordered, do I save money by doing it myself? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujLnVtmPN-4&feature=related
PhilR
Nice one Billy I should've got the fitter to do it that way and melted the snow on the drive - two birds with one stone
HW682
all you need here http://www.generaltire.com/tires/T5/Grabber-ATsup2-sup From what I remember, the sizes marked with an asterix on this list are not severe snow rated (ie don't come with the snowflake in a mountain logo). That includes 235/70 x 16 and 245/70 x 16 sizes. Don't know what difference it makes. It could be that they haven't been tested - or it could be that they don't meet the spec? Mine are marked on the sidewall M&S, but is the amount of snow we have here severe? As tyres are sold worldwide I assume severe would encompass countries such as Canada etc.
Billy.
M&S I was in there earlier buying dinner. I should've asked if they had any AT2's, damn!
