mart46
I've been offered a springer x beagle and I'm wondering if anybody has seen this cross before. I'm thinking that he/she will be predominately the families dog, but with the potential to take out shooting after some (read lots!) training. I've been after a cocker /springer but just wondered about this option. I'm sure you've all got a view about this, so what do you think? garyb
Don't touch it with a bargepole Great if you JUST want a pet.. Probably useless as a shooting dog, hold out for cocker or springer.
al4x
does beg the question why the hell would you cross a springer and a beagle. Beagles are well known for disappearing on trails and putting something like that with a springer should guarantee you end up with a nightmare on your hands

rickyspringer
this dog is a great hunting dog, unbelievable, great for work as a pack and with the lurchers, but as a shooting dog no good unless alot of work goes into obedience for beating, my neighbour has one as a pet and she's a lovely little thing, more biddable naturally than my spaniels, always nice and close to owner, but she is of a very shy disposition. as a pet and a dog which will be nice to watch hunt and take lines on sent, faultless, shooting dog there is definitely better out there.
