neilbe2
well ive been shooting pigeons over decoys for a long time but always with the 12 bore, but what about doing the same with my airgun? ive never tried it before and wonder if id be wasting my time the problem is-the field were i shoot is so big that once they hear the shot gun they ****** off and they dont want to come back, and now im thinking of the more silent approach....is it worth it? what do you think? markbivvy
the mood the birds are in right now if you use a blow pipe they will do one. when they are having it big style you will get more with the 12g.but it makes a change so have a go with the air rifle. SNAKEBITE
Try a roost shoot at dusk or maybe find a good sitty tree and place yourself near that during the day.
Catamong
I suppose it's a bit like Muntjac shooting with a catapult - great in theory, but no good in the field. Cat.
coupe312
i always used the air rifle until getting the shotgun. now i take both in the feild with me. use the airrifle if they land, shotgun if they fly. they work well in tandem it goes go quiet though when you use the shot gun

Worth a go surely? Is it because no one has perciviered with it that there are no recognised techniques?

Wookie
I've had a couple when I have actually been out after magpies... I put down a couple of magpie decoys over a dead rabbit (shot that morning) and then crawled inside a hedge to wait for the little ****. No magpies turned up, but a couple of pigoens did about 10 minutes apart, so I took them instead. made a very tasty addition to the pie! I had the magpie decoys set up about 20m out to give myself a bit of leeway and added the pigeons to a pattern as they were shot. For some reason, the pigeons could see/sense the pigeon decoys I have were not real and would not land inside the pattern when I used them.
