aliengravy
Hello all, I need some help! My Reloading press has just arrived (Lee Load-all 2), and now I'm researching loads, and recipes. I thought I would ask you guys on here what you use? As I know some of you re-load quite a lot. There are a few things I want to be able to load: 2 3/4" Subsonic 32g no6 Fibre wad. 2 3/4" Subsonic 28g no7 1/2 Fibre wad. And then I need some duck and goose loads in 3" magnum, in steel. What recipes do you guys use, and like? Probably best to PM them Thank's in advance. Edited December 31, 2010 by aliengravy
Alycidon
To get the best out of a subsonic load you would need to fit a moderator or use a Hushpower or similar shotgun. get someone to show you what a subsonic 22LR round sounds like with and without a moderator fitted before you get to involved with this. I really cant see any point other than that of self satisfaction in copying standard game/rough loads. Steel or heavies then yes a decent cost saving to be had. But it is for a 12g hushpower! Eley subs are £6.40 a box here, and I am sure I could reload for less!! Its just finding a mix that will work! If anyone knows of one I would be grateful! Floating Chamber
The only 'subsonic' I load is 24gram and I swear by it. (My mate can swipe pigeon all day with his .410 loads and less than 14 grams.) 32grams nowadays is throwing your money down the drain, even if you make your own shot. "A pigeon is a pigeon and most of the shot will be wasted around it", to quote my elderly pigeon shooter friend, (whose skill and hit rates are superb.) "there is only a relative handful of true pigeon shooters in this country; the rest are week-end 'Charlie bang-bangs' who can be seen a mile away!" I only load one piece of number 6 these days and go for the brain, can't stand those Charlie bang bangs. 'NURSE'
