chrispti
Myself and Mudpatten had a bash at the woodys today. We set out 50 odd decoys in a ''U'' shape with a gap in the front center. At first the birds where not at all interested in the decoys, so it was a case of having to drop a few passers by so we could get the rotarys out With that eventually achieved, the 2 rotarys were set out, 10 yrds from the front of the hide. The birds immediately started to decoy perfectly As usual, a good few easy sitters were missed , but that was made up with some excellent high birds being killed and we both had a couple of right n lefts each I had to go at 14.00 so the day was cut short with birds still trying to come in whilst we were out packing up  I have no doubt we could have made the magic 100 today had we stayed, (and if we hit them of course ) but such as life, and we ended up with 58 picked up and a few we lost, so call it 60

hamster123
would you say then it was the rotor that got them coming in, ie not a floater or bouncer?

Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
Well done chris out tommorrow myself hope it that busy for me. Its strange I always find that as soon as the longest day passes the birds become easier to decoy. Regards OTH
chrispti
would you say then it was the rotor that got them coming in, ie not a floater or bouncer? Yes mate, a few birds slowed to have a look, but they just didn't have the confidence to commit to the decoys. As soon as the rotary was out, there wings were back and they started dropping into the pattern

chrispti
Well done mate, looks like a good day Was there much wind or another still day? was still mate. There was a pheasent shoot going on in the distance, a few miles behind us, so Im sure that helped keep the birds moving about

southdowns_stalking
Sounds like the rotarys were the winning key mate! Might have to steal a windowscreen motor out of a car at work and get one made up

Might have to steal a windowscreen motor out of a car at work and get one made up They are not that hard to make either, made all the differance today, was just a pain in the *** trying to get the first 2 birds down, so we could get it set up and going . . . . . . . . . as you know
