Dekers
Always amuses me this topic, it's usually started by an air-gun owner looking to take the odd pigeon out of a tree (at least he was planning to eat it rather than just leave it where it lands), this then leads to a bunch of armchair lawyers explaining the terms of the general licence and what constitutes serious crop damage, all other methods explored etc How much you want to bet these people also enjoy a day's decoying over stubble - where's the crop damage there? That will be preventative, to stop the damage on the next crop, having already established the pigeons are in the area, causing damage and all other means to scare them off have failed! Piebob
and all other means to scare them off have failed! Remember - you need not have actually tried other methods. You just need to be satisfied that the other methoda are ineffective.
poontang
Hi Guys, seeking some advice: can you legally shoot a wood pigeon in your garden with an air rifle providing that the pellet doesn't leave the boundary? this then leads to a bunch of armchair lawyers explaining the terms of the general licence and what constitutes serious crop damage, all other methods explored etc A member asks a question, and is given all the information he needs, I fail to see how that makes anyone an 'armchair lawyer'. Afterall, the title of the post is 'Garden pigeon shooting-airgun: THE LAW' What would you have advised?
HW682
The law is that you cannot shoot any bird or mammal not on the game list. I assume that you typed this in a hurry or were distracted; and you didn't actually mean what you have written?
