Some shoots will ask for BASC insurance, simply because they know the benefits of our policy compared to the restrictions and limits on some of the other cheap offerings out there and of course they want to help support BASC

Cheap deals are all well and good but remember the insurance is only cheap because it may not cover everything and every eventuality you think it does!

But more importantly these cheap deals leave little over to support effective political and media campaigns to keep shooting safe, let alone effective membership services such as firearms teams, for example.

Last year BASC responded to 50 government consultations on shooting and shooting realties issues, I hazard a guess the cheap organisations did not respond to half that number between them!

So if it were not for BASC who would be standing up for your rights?

BASC offers the most complete package as members know, but there are cheap deals out there I agree – pay less get less, its as simple as that.

But again I say no, it should not be made compulsory by legislation to have shooting insurance, but anyone who goes shooting should buy it anyway, there are plenty of choices!

May sound daft but Do you have to have basc insurance for game shooting as I've seen people asking for it, or will other shooting insurance be acceptable ,Iam insured just not with basc.thanks maxi

simple answer is ask, most times its absolutely fine, wildfowling wise BASC have a bit of a monopoly but not other forms of shooting and usually proof of insurance is all they want.

I don't think it should be compulsary, butI think your daft not to have it. I think it would be yet another layer of burocracy in an already heavly legislated area.

This is something that doesn't phase me personally as sadly its a condition on my FAC

IT does not say I must buy insurance It just says I must have some sort insurance

even if it means I pay out of my own money.

As I club shoot I have to

1. have NSRA member ship which covers ALL insurance IE third party, myself and theft/damage of all firearms.

2. pay range fee at the club for third party insurance.

and as NSRA is only about £80 a year which will cover near 2k worth of firearms plus other things

I am not going to argue.

You might as well have it really.
