robc89
I have bought myself a Canon 500d and with the help of my Girlfriend who is a photographer, I am taking up rural sports photography. It will be a great chance for me to do some picking up with my dog as well as capturing some photos of sporting opportunites. I am going to offer my services completely free of charge and even provide the shoot owners with a few free photos, I will upload the photos and provide the guns an opportunity to purchase them. I believe through photobox they can buy the photos for very competitive price. I was on a shoot yesterday just a couple I have done.
robc89
Thanks for looking and hopefully I can add more in time. Rob
dunganick
The shot of the Pheasant feathers is lovely. The other two don't do much for me personally, not really a fan of B+W photos myself. Keep up the good work, make sure you post plenty of shots up for critique, its the fastest way to learn/grow your photography. robc89
Thankyou, B+W doesnt really do much for me either but as the two pictures didnt really have much about them (due to my photography skill) I thought they best suited B+W. My GF is going to help with my editing skills and like you say am hoping to gain a feel from what others think on forums like this. Cheers Rob
dunganick
Sounds like a plan. I would recommend Talkphotography as a good photography forum. Albeit i'm not sure how they would take to fieldsport images. I've never tried, i suspect not too well. (quite a few of the bunny hugging types around on the wildlife part of the site) The thing that jumps out to me about the 3rd image is the high vantage point. Dog photos always look best from down at their level. Generally speaking lots of photos look better from a lower angle, that way you start to see depth of field better and introduce a more interesting background into the photo. But thats just my opinion, lots of people do their own thing and have a totally different style of photography.

Do the same for kids and you'll end up with some great pics Mart
UKPoacher
It's a good start, but can I offer the following advice? Shot 1 sends out the wrong signal - litter. Not the image most people want to convey about shooting. Shot 2 could do without the distracting white areas and needs more depth of field. Shot 3 as has already been said would be better from ground level and it isn't straight. The dog looks like it is falling over. Join a photography forum and let others view your photos. Don't take critique badly as constructive negative comments are far more helpful to your development than blind praise.
robc89
Yeah thanks for that. Funny actually the one of the dog was part of multiple shots i was taking without looking through the view finder cos I was actually standing on a peg shooting lol I will try get lower on the next ones, hopefully got an invite on Saturday morning. I see what your saying but I think Shot 1 is something alot of Peg standers will relate to. Talking to one gun yesterday who said he had over 200 shots on a 45min drive the other day. He didnt say what his ratio was but watching him yesterday I dont imagine it to be bad. My photography will be aimed towards people who appreciate shooting for what it is so Im glad you guys can comment on it and give me tip. Dunkield
The first one is waay too moody. - Hopefully those cartridges got picked up after I like some of my pictures but my son (who is the arty one) says they are too flat and generally too central, I put the same pictures on here and people like them - it is all subjective. Keep snapping, and keep posting your pictures on here
