alastair0903
i`ve looked into all this bigger shot size . after having this argument with my mate we ended up cutting up 2 cartridges . we compaired rc sipe in shot size 5 and a gamebore black gold in a number 5 and we could see no visable difference in them ? i was kind of thinking that rc may have started using standard size shot ? :yp: in reply to the phesant question i would say the RC in a number 4 would be a good hard hitting cartridge Edited January 14, 2011 by alastair0903

Alycidon
The shot size is about half a size bigger than the english equiv number on the case. They are pretty good stoppers though, 32 gr of 3.5s should be good for a very long way!!. A
utectok
Rc shot size is 3.1 mm for shot size 4 so that's the same as hull shot size 4. I measured the shot and most was nearer to 3mm than 3.1 mm about 190 shot in 33gms according to my count of three carts. Death to pheasants at 50 yds I'd say
Guest cookoff013
# shot per oz would give you a better answer. its better to weigh the shot on a scale and count the pellets until the scale reads 1oz. - some continental cartridges, are "often misleading" there have been several reviews in magazines. where they cut open shells and analyse them. a few ("continental") loads didnt have the right shotsize, or shot load. only a few came close to the advertised speed. i do think the italian shotsizes are bigger. however, your loads should be dynamite on and driven phes.
