Diceman
He needs to do his homework - Stockport is not in Cheshire - Greater Manchester in reality. I dare you to stand on a table in a Bramhall wine bar and say that....
Gordon R
No problem - mind you, the table will need to be strong. Some people in Stockport aspire to live in Cheshire. The Cheshire Gunroom is in Greater Manchester.
jacksdad
Stockport is in Chesire, the postcodes are SK.... whereas all Manchester are M... I really enjoy taking the p@@@ out of the muppets who live their, as if saying Chesh-ier makes the dump sound better
Diceman
Stockport was in Cheshire until I think 1974 when GM was created. The post office insist that it still is, so the correct address would be, say, Bramhall, Stockport, Cheshire, and to posh Stopfordians that is good enough. It's no more creative than "London Luton Airport" or "London Stanstead Airport" I suppose!
jacksdad
No one recognises Greater Manchester though. I live in Oldham, Lancashire and not Oldham, Gtr Manc Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, simple...always has been, always will !
Mr Potter
No one recognizes Greater Manchester though. I live in Oldham, Lancashire and not Oldham, Gtr Manc Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, simple...always has been, always will ! Agree with that, the same applies to Merseyside, you try telling someone from Southport or St Helens that they are scousers and be prepared to run. The one that isn't as easy to get away with is Warrington, until the early 70's Warrington was Lancashire and there was the river Mersey to separate us from our posh neighbors in Cheshire. Stoke of a politicians pen and Cheshire acquired a lump of land it didn't want and Warrington seemed to lose it's industrial heritage. Still it could have been worse, we could have become scousers Mr Potter PS Before the PW scousers flame me, I was born in Liverpool and didn't escape until I was 9 so technically I'm still a scouser
Chris Bb
Po faced official, "Where were you born?" Me, "Romford, Essex." Po faced official, "Romford, Greater London." Me, "That's bloody clever, they've moved an entire town." "Whoosh!" straight over Po Faced Official's head.
