stubby
reading a few posts lately on either mossburg or hushpower shotgun, most like mine seem to fire low because of the moderator, meaning at least on mine I need to aim around 4" higher at any target quarry, so would it be feesable to alther the sight line, by maybe putting a length of timber beading, say in a wedge shape/lenth, from a few mm to zero mm, thus changing your line of sight when looking down the barrel, and therefore making you aim at a target, but in fact the gun would be 4" lower if that makes any sense at all just thinking for roost shooting, its easier to aim at roosting birds, rather than aiming 4" above them
Guest cookoff013
yeah, this is a common problem with hushys. the can, can really change the poa. what you could do, is tape a new rib (made if wood etc). then work out your poi. trap guns have an adjustable rib to do this. what i do suggest is place stack coin (s) at the back of the rib by the action (obviously flat ontop of the rib). aim the shotgun so the bead hovers above the flat coin(s). aim and shoot. work out your poi. add more coins or take coins away. to get the poi spot on. (all you are doing is changing the rear sight, on a shotgun, thats your eye). use pennys, or the thinnest coins you can. (also shoot at the range you expect to be shooting) start at 5 yards, then go back 15 yards
JRDS
The Mossy rib is 3/8, would sort you out. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WU70230
stubby
thanks to both for replies, did'nt think I was mad, the 4" difference was at 30yds, so I suppose Id do it around there, would probably need to bend a few 5p's as I'll sit them on the back of the hushpower (rounded) no-where else to attach sights to
JRDS
The open sights I put the link to attach to the rib and should give you a sighting plane over the Moderator.
jake202
The open sights I put the link to attach to the rib and should give you a sighting plane over the Moderator. have you used these sights on a 410 mossberg? thanks jake
stubby
The open sights I put the link to attach to the rib and should give you a sighting plane over the Moderator. I have a pedretti hushpower, so no rib, but I could drill and mount a fixing to the full moderator, although a wooden bead taped on sounds cheaper

stubby
well being the bodgitt type Ive pinched a rear sight from an old BB rifle we had hanging up in the workshop, very simular to the one in the link above, but cost ziltch, so once Ive bodged it on, I'll give it a test run too, its adjustable both horizontal and vertical so may be just what is needed
jake202
ahhh thats a good idea once you've finnished "bodging" can we see some pics? jake
sitsinhedges
How about a short bit of black waste pipe with a section cut out so it will snap over the moderator tube at the back, raising the line of sight and so making the gun shoot higher I just cut a radius that matched the tube into a block of ally and fixed it to the breech end of the tube to get the same effect on my single. Strangely the moderated o/u shoots flat
NorfolkPoacher
To solve this prob on my mossberg hushpower 20ga I fitted a holographic sight from midway uk. You look through it put the dot or circle on the bunny and spot on every time. Dead easy to zero prices from 40 to 500 loads of choice. I picked the one with th biggest reticle. Food for thought atb dave
Pykie
I have a 20 bore hushpower pump too and was going to get a sight for it. There is one on a certain auction site for bout £20, for pistols or shotguns.
JRDS
that would be spot on would you be able to post pictures aswell pleaseeeeeeee jake Jake as requested, you will have to excuse my photographic skills but you will get the jist. http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa240/spanner_021/Slugger/ Fiddly to fit but once on very secure, my tip is fit the rear sights back screws first when you fit them you may have to slide the sight up to get access to the holes to do this. They are a great open sight with two luminous green dots on the rear sight and a red dot on the front. The front sight easily clears the Moderator and when using them you do not see the Moderator at all. The rear sight adjusts for windage and elevation by slot headed screws. I get my set from http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WU70230 It says there is a $12 admin fee for International Orders but the lady didn't charge me this unless it was included in the postage, anyway total cost all in was $45 or so. Must say their customer service is superb, I somehow managed to lose a fixing screw so e mailed and asked the size and they sent some FOC. Best service I have ever had. Midway UK were £34 plus £9 post so these work out alot cheaper.
