Man-o-woods
I am considdering reloading 12G carts for clay busting. I know sweet FA about reloading and need to ask some questions. 1. do I need any qualifications to reload? 2. what regs are there about storing the gunpowder? 3. is it worth doing? 4. what is the typical saving? Thanke for reading M-O-W
John_R
Simple answer, 12g for clays will cost you more to reload than buying ready made. Do a search, been done to death on here and elsewhere. Only worth reloading if you have something special in mind, or for unusual calibre. Guest cookoff013
you will never compete with cartridge manufacturers, there purchasing power is too high. they buy shot very cheap. some guys here make there own shot, thats how they save money. the lead for them is usually free. (or good as) i shoot steel at clays. just because it is way cheaper. i also reload. just for fun though.
MC
The only way it is advantageous is if you make your own shot. Or if you usually use a good quality cartridge like World Cup or Sovereign. Then you can load an equivalent (or better) cartridge for less money. If you buy whatever is cheapest each time then you will never do it cheaper. If you have to buy your shot then you are on a loser.
Guest cookoff013
If you have to buy your shot then you are on a loser. very harsh. but so very true. i just buy little ammounts of shot. just to make subsonics and the like. for me its fun. i`m scared of heights. Vince Green
Fun it certainly is but financially its crazy. The only upside is you make the cartridges the way you want them. Quality 32g fibre wads and a slow burning powder. Not like these reduced load budget cartridges.
