Lee loadall bushings for use with Vectan AS

Vectan AS and lee loadall bushings

.128 = 15.4 grains

.134 = 16.4 grains

.141 = 17.0 grains

.148 = 18.0 grains

.155 = 18.9 grains

.163 = 20.0 grains

.171 = 20.9 grains

.180 = 22.0 grains

.189 = 23.3 grains

.198 = 24.2 grains

The above is only a guide as flake powders do not always drop well in a lee loadall. Drop weights should be checked with an accurate set of powder scales.

AS is a bit fast for 32gr although there is one recipe listed in my data.

That is as follows

CX2000 primer, 21 grains of Vectan AS, B & P Z18 plastic wad, 32gr of shot, 6 point crimp gives 1119 fps at 20 metres and a pressure of 610BAR at 1".

The above recipe is CIP tested and approved.

If you drop to 28 grams of shot then I have a wicked recipe using AS,

Fibre or plastic wad, 22.5 grains of AS and a CX1000 primer. You won't go far wrong with that.

Have you already bought the powder? If not then go and get some GM3, it is fast, clean and more flexible.

Graham,

There are people who load 1 grain more in a fibre wad load. I personally don't as I leave the press set up and just change the wads. I always load 28 grams of shot over 22 grains of GM3 and a CX2000 primer.

This gives a hard hitting but smooth cartridge. I make and load 8's for clays and 6's for pigeons and game.

Don't know about the RTO, I don't ever do it. Just use 70mm gamebore cases and a 6 point crimp.

My cases a Express paper ready primed - how can I rell if the primer is suitable?

I had to get some pyrodex today so bought a tub of Vectan AS whilst I was at local shop. I have a mate who can get GM3 from SSM cartridges but not sure on the price. I will ask him to check it out for me

Regards

Graham

Just as a side note. I don't fully agree with this. I am finding that the .134 die is dropping me almost 15 grains exactly!

AS is too fast for 32g. would suggest A1 or A0.

on a nother side note,

MC

that 32g load is ideal for subsonics.

CX2000 primer, 21 grains of Vectan AS, B & P Z18 plastic wad, 32gr of shot, 6 point crimp gives 1119 fps

just drop 2-3 grains of powder, #4 shot, and you have a wicked sub load. as you have taken away alittle powder. the pressure will never be as high as 610bar

and it may still burn clean !

i think this looks better than the 28g sub load.

I wonder where you got that from? :D
