Ireland's Finest!
Alright lads, I do a bit of pigeon shooting now and again(opportunities are pretty limited were I'm from) but when I do get some pigeon shooting I'd like too have effective equipment, so my question is besides shell decoys and the rotary, what in your opinion is a must have when out pigeon shooting? Cosd
Bouncers are a decent bit of kit, not heavy or bulky and generally work really well. Magnets have on and off days, I don't think I've ever taken a bouncer down.
vampire
Hyper flappers on your rotary will help, bouncers with good wing bars and flappers get attention, the best bit of kit is your 'fieldcraft',do at least 3 recons, know your crops and when they are drilled and harvested and most important is to look for birds in the air and not feeding on ground, then get under the flight line, without knowing how to do this you can spend as much money on kit as you like and you will still not get good bags.Have you read archie coats or john batleys' books, they are full of sensible advise
bakerboy
Why do we not produce our own book, Beardo's decoy layout's and Teals crop calender and lots of other very useful tips on the forum. We could perhaps list mentors in areas that would be prepared to take newbies out, thereby keeping the sport alive and kicking. I am sure that almost anyone would be prepared to pay a few quid for laminated cards with info that fit in a pocket. The money could be put to a good cause "North v South Charity Shoot Nominated Charity" and be a nice but very steady income stream.
