Sprocker101
Hi all. In your opinion what's the best time of day, this time of year to do some rough shooting? For woodies, rabbits etc? Thinking of an early start tom, and wandering will it be worth it? Many thanks
FalconFN
Early morning is good for rabbits but it depends on the weather. Good for decoying woodies too but weather isn't such an issue.
Sprocker101
Thanks for the reply. I'll see what the weather is like in the morning then!
Dekers
Generalizations, there are always exceptions. Rabbits late afternoon/evening/night. Pigeon, early morning and late afternoon/evening, unless you know where they are feeding, then any time you like!
Billy.
I'd not bother doing an early morning for bunnies. For a start they'll see you from a mile off and sod off once a shot's fired and stay in all day. For rabbits, get a lamp and drive round. Pigeons, yes, early morning. Frenchieboy
For rabbits it has to be after dark on the lamp! For pigeons any time if you can find where they are feeding! For Charlie I love early mornings just as dawn is breaking or late evening just as the sun is starting to set , especially in late summer/early autumn when there are cubs out and about that have just started forraging for them selves, otherwise just like rabbits it is on the lamp with a caller unless you have an established bait station and have checked out their timing and routine with the "alarm clock method"! Just my opinions for what they are worth, they seem to get pleasing results for me!
