The Duncan
Nice bag and good effort on the clover (if slightly dubious on the 'crop protection' issue). I've seen some good flocks on clover on some of my permissions, but once spooked, they seem very reluctant to return. I can't wait to til my bag is even in double figures for woodies Duncan

Keep at them a good bag will soon come if you do your homework and are in the right place at the right time
TJ91
well done are the flocks starting to split up down your way yet?

Keep at them a good bag will soon come if you do your homework and are in the right place at the right time Just waiting on my ordered hide and poles turning up now - then I'll give them what for! You'll never have seen such scared woodies! Bakerboy has lent me some deeks, so with a fair wind I'll be out this week hide shooting and I've got an 'armed ramble' planned for tomorrow, taking in several flightlines I'm happy to report that I've been granted a new permission which includes fields of rape - but not too much pigeon damage at all from what I've seen. Still, doing recce's I've put up a few middlin sized flocks 30-80 birds at a guess, which were clearly feeding on the OSR Good news though - the land from the 'new' farm borders an existing permission of mine. Better still: I don't know of many farms that don't have rabbits I've seen a few fields of OSR not too far away that are being hammered, so a bit of research and door-knocking coming up Happy days! yickdaz
nice one yeah its a prickly subject;they are not doing any damage on clover but there could be a rape field 2 fields away from the grass on the same permission that they have hammered all winter but you have struggled to do any good with them so first chance you get on any crop nail em. its not always about protecting the crop you are shooting over its reducing numbers thats pest control as well. Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
Umm you boys need to do a bit of research on clover and its protein levels for livestock . A pigeon damages clover just like any other crop which in turn means less for the farmers livestock to graze on product milk or meat. Well done Tom lots here on two year red clover leys wind looks strong wensday will have a go on a clover ley under a wood that favours a strong S/W wind. Cheers OTH
