flatnm
HI ALL. I have a browning 525 field/game and am looking into the back of the action. Have put a combe raiser on and seems to be alot better. Was wondering if i put a Miroku mk38 trap stock on, which will fit ? It will solve my problem. Opinions please. Regards TONY. seeker
If you've got the spare stock you can try .. if you've got to buy, it might be worth comparing the price of adding an adjustable comb?
Gordon R
Miroku MK38 trap stock should fit Browning 325, 425 and 525. I put a Miroku MK 38 trap stock on my Browning XT a few years ago. It came with a recoil device fitted, which I didn't like. Sold the stock and recoil device and replaced it with the Miroku. It's cheaper to make yours adjustable. Depends where you live - DIY £43, North West £100 - elsewhere about 50% more.
flatnm
Yes i am up in the northwest (cumbria) The price for the stock is £275.00, so i guess converting mine to adjustable will be cheaper?? Where in the Northwest is the best place to get the job done. PS Do you think that this price for the stock is to much?? Gordon R
£275 is steep. It might be a new one. Someone in Norfolk sells a few. Around £125 when you can find them. Not that many knocking about. Lad in North West does them - Oldham. Your only problem would be getting it to him. He normally meets shooters at the local clay shoot to take possession and deliver. PM if you want a phone number. Edited February 21, 2011 by Gordon R
HDAV
Straightshooter might be able to sort you out
Gordon R
I didn't know he did adjustable stocks, but he is in the right area and his work looks nothing less than first class.
HDAV
Not sure if he does but seeing the quality of his refinishes worth a PM and a chat!
Gordon R
If he doesn't he should. I have done a couple myself and he is way out of my league.
flatnm
Thanks all. Have sent straightshooter a mess. Gorden R. Was thinking of going down the beretta/ad/stock road ? What do you think of the gun and its set up .
Gordon R
Either gun is fine with an adjustable stock. The one thing I would say is that the Beretta original stock adjusting mechanism is garbage. Now that is flimsy - the gun isn't. If I was looking at converting a gun - either Browning / Miroku or Beretta would be fine. I like them all - fine handling guns. Well made, well balanced and durable. All my over and unders are 32" trap models. I have just bought another Beretta 682E Gold with an adjustable stock. I already have the fixed stock version. The two guns I have done myself have been a Browning GTi and a Miroku MK38. Very similar and not a bad job to do. I have had two adjustable combs done for me in the past - Browning 525 Sporter and a Caesar Guerini Summit trap. The Graco comb adjuster system looks to be the most durable to me. Far better engineered than the Miroku original.
