Fatcatsplat
My little Clumber Beryl is 20 months now and coming along a treat - At least I think so - but i want something to compare her to, or at least to measure her by. Walks to heel, stops on command, turns on the whistle and as of Sunday, retrieves pigeons eagerly! Was thinking of going along to one of the courses run by The Gundog Club to see whether there were any rough edges that needed smoothing but wondered whether anyone out there had any first hand experience of them? Their website is a tad confusing to navigate and doesn't really tell you too much aside from where and when to send the money (insert alarm bell ringing icon here!!). Otherwise, anyone know of any decent gundog training clubs that run at the weekend within reasonably easy access of Sunny Thurrock (SS17 post code)? daztheman
hi it sounds like you've done all the basics and alls gone well so if i were you ( i'm only a novice ) i would go & have a hour on your own with a spanial trainer i think the courses would only go over what you've done. Bagsy
I can't speak from experience but I've heard varied reports about the GD club, some good, some bad. I've PM'd you with a couple of suggestions.
WGD
Better to go and run in a working test or two during the spring/summer IMO.
cracker
Doesn't the Working Clumber Society hold fairly frequent training days? Nowhere near Essex, but *a* (as in "another") gundog club is starting out next month http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/ftopict-84613.html with some savvy spaniel trainers on hand. WGD's right on with the working tests too. MG

garyb
Gundog Club - not worth it IMHO.. Started as good idea, now seems to be a money making scheme.

garyb
How far do you want to travel FCS? I know a good one near Sudbury who would put you right.
