Remington 700 screw cut?

Hi, just a quick question. Anybody know what size the thread is on a standard remington 700 sps varmint?

Im looking to get a sound mod for mine and want to call round to see who has the correct size in stock.

Many Thanks,

Unless something has changed, there isn't a standard thread for the 700 SPS Varmint. Edgar Bros get these cut in the UK so it is what they decide to make "standard"!

Being the heavy barrel I would guess a longer thread, but before investing in a mod I suggest a word with Edgar Bros, or any decent RFD should be able to tell the thread by looking!

:good:

ok will contact edgar bros, mine came already screw cut. I was also thinkging of possibly having the barrel shortened. Anyone done this?

I had an sps varmint in 243 whch i cut down to 20" from 26"

Also threaded it 1/2"UNF so i could use the same mod for my 223 , as Ian said in an earlier post varmint barrels normally 5/8"UNF or M16X1

Edgar Bros have been getting many barrels threaded for a while now, but when I got mine they refused to shorted it.

I got my SPS about 3 years ago now and there were two in the shop to choose from, both full length barrel but one pre threaded and £50 more expensive. I got the unthreaded one, and cut and threaded the barrel to around 21".

Mine is in .308 and standard stainless barrel so 1/2" thread! :good:
