Kermit the frog
Dear Sniper, I have never seen a trap with fixing between arm and shaft like that! It looks like an aluminium casting, and I doubt that welding it will hold, you would need to v the break very deeply, and if it broke when it was solid, I dont think the weld will hold. Looking at the photos the faces of the two halves look worn, they should fit together absolutely flush. Think you will need to get another made, you can get steel or stainless laser cut very accurately but I doubt in that thickness, so it will need to be 3 slices and weld them together while a shaft is in place. You will need to make a drawing, or send the boss to someone like, Laser Process Upper Keys Keys Park Cannock WS12 2GE United Kingdom 01543 495000 Is isnt going to be cheap, but I think the alternative is scrapping the trap. kermit

Mickthemiller
Hi Scot Without seeing the bottom side of the plate it is difficult to say whether after haveing it welded, and there is some goog kit out there now, but I am now out of touch with my old colleagued, you could have a steel reinforcing plate screwed to the bottom. On the other hand it does not look like a complicated piece and if you have a friend who works in a machine shop with a milling machine one could be made from scratch. Best of luck Mick the Miller
