spurgate
All, This is more of a discussion point then a question. We all know that pigeons can pick you out if you are not covered correctly our your moving around. But what about when roost shooting, i have a very well trained lab that i make sit while i am standing still in the woods. Do you think that if i where to allow my lab to move around while roost shooting, the pigeons would be put off by the site of a black dog? I'm farly new to this so your thoughts are greatly appriciated. Cheers everyone
UKPoacher
It is one of those variables. I make sure my liver and white ESS is well covered when hide or roost shooting, but there are times when I've sent her out to retrieve and pigeons have come in totally ignoring her. I suppose it depends on a lot of factors though keeping the dog out of sight will help some times.
sitsinhedges
The pigeons around my woods are mega alert but then they do get shot at often whereas the birds I decoyed elsewhere yesterday morning didn't seem wary at all. The answer probably lies in how much they are bothered.
