TaxiDriver
Is there anyone in/around Chelmsford Essex(30 mile radius) who would take me along to help me gain some experience Please. I have air rifle only whilst awaiting SGC and FAC (22lr) and have a very limited experience of sporting clays. Also interested in Ferreting, and learning about rabbit trapping. Can do pretty much anytime evenings/weekends and some week days after Easter. Thank you for reading. Neil

bakerboy
If you fancy a go at the pigeons, in the Hitchin area drop me a PM. I can loan you a Shotgun/decoys/hide etc. Cannot guarantee the pigeons but can guarantee a nice day out. Terry
TaxiDriver
Update : Have now had my FAC Air and 22lr since May 2011 but owing to not having been able to work regularly, haven't had the money to get all the hide poles/nets/decoys etc to go pigeon shooting, we all know what it's like, you do get some money together and summat more important comes up that said, I have done a little bit of rabbit shooting and spent a bit more time with my 10yr old son having a go at Sporting Clays. I had been shooting a few rabbits on a permission gained through a family member who's employed there, however the farms neighbours have asked the land owner to stop me shooting rabbits claiming it sets the dogs off barking (They keep a Kennels for racing greyhounds) So in order not to make it awkward for the family member who got me the permission, I haven't taken a shot in weeks/months If anyone around Chelmsford can offer an evening or hour or two on the rabbits I'd be be very grateful. Thanks Edited September 21, 2011 by TaxiDriver
stubby
surely a .22 with sound mod aint going to make a noise for the dogs to bark? what sort of time was you hitting it? maybe change your times to a much later/earlier one, one of my permissions is zig zagged with footpaths, I therefore tend to lamp it after 1am or before 6am, to save any disturbances also, have you got an open ticket to allow you on other grounds Edited September 21, 2011 by stubby
TaxiDriver
Good point re the ticket conditions, will double double check. FAC AIR Condition : May be used on land over which I have lawful authority to shoot 22lr Use on land deemed suitable by chief officer of police and which I have lawfull authority to shoot. (If I've understood this correctly, it means if the land is already cleared & I have permission then I'm OK ?) I had been going early evenings until dusk as that was when bunnies were starting to come out. Had been going for a few evenings over a few weeks until I tried the HV rounds which I guess gave me away, the neighbour complained at me, then next day went to my land owner and complained (Seems there has been some friction regarding dog noise and fouling of the footpaths on my permission.) On fac air you can use where ever you have permission (open) the land dosen't need to be cleared unlike the 22rf the land needs to be cleared (closed). Opens up your chances of being take out as there is no issue of having to check wether the land is cleared or not.

If someone's using 22lr on land that's cleared and I have permission then I'm OK? Of course the hiccup there is that if someone else is shooting there using an Open ticket it wont nescessarily follow that an individual piece of land is cleared then I can't shoot there. All it means is that say if you lived close to me and I was to take you on some of my land some is cleared but the majority I havent got a clue so you would of had no problem taking your fac air but not your 22rf. What you have said is (If I've understood this correctly, it means if the land is already cleared & I have permission then I'm OK ?) What I am saying is that the land dosent need to have been cleared in order for you to use your fac air. This opens up alot more shooting oppertunities for people to take you out. TaxiDriver
I got you, Yes the condition attached to the FAC air is less restrictive than those attached to my 22lr. Obviously, being my first ever FAC application it's a fair restriction given the 22lr's potential. Thanks for the input.

Thanks Shameless bump again. I'm particularly looking for something next week (half term) as I'm child free and able to come and go as I please. If offered any rabbit shooting with the 22lr, I'd need to confirm the land is cleared for 22lr as I only have open ticket on my FAC Air
