PSMITH1963
Hi Just back from Frauxdegla and a nice set up, As with most shooting grounds a friendly bunch, We tagged along with Beretta, Mr Potter off the site and some really nice gents who all could shoot realy well. Seb and I shot ok for us, We both are starting to get a feel and understand the sport better giving us a bit more confidence, But the nerves still play there part. It was our first shoot in a squad and we enjoyed every bit of it. I would like to thank Beretta and the others who gave advice as we went much appricated. Looking forward to the next outting which is likely to be Doveridge at the end of the month. Mr Potter
Good to meet you both (well all three + dog) today, I agree with Beretta, I thought you both shot well on what was a tough course. I've been told that young Tim Webster came from Kingsley Moor, where he'd shot a 97, to that layout we'd just shot and did an 82!! That tells you how tough it was especially that stand 12, if the wind had dropped or changed direction that impossible stand might have been easily straightened. The youngster did well, hit some good birds today and I speak from experience when I say it won't be too long till he's the top shot in the household. Results already on Fauxdegla website http://www.fauxdeglashootingground.co.uk/uploads/100%20ESP%20%2013-3-11.pdf Mr Potter
PSMITH1963
Thanks Mr Potter, Our group posted some good scores, We enjoyed watching some very good shots in action, If I recall you were on fire Quote Alan, I did notice one thing were you using Eley superbs mainly and and for closer targets Olimpics. You are right about Seb being top shot soon, on the compak at Coniston where Seb asgot the measure of the lead and familiar with the targets we are neck and neck 15 - 18 out of 25 Once again thanks for your company and hope to see you soon. hillmouse
Foreign adventures eh? Good to hear you had a good time and shot well. I can only confirm the bad news in the Smith household. The lad Seb is going to get seriously good very soon. I hope he hit all the rabbits. Hope you can get out to play at Coniston again before we depart on the 28th. Seb, Michelle & Phil I was using a mixture of cartrides Phil but they were Superbs shot size 8 and Modenas in 7.5. I used to shoot the Superb 8s for everything (but with a few 7's in my bag for really distant stuff) When the price of Suberbs got silly (£180+) I tried the Modenas at £130 but they only do 7.5's Anyway I found the Modenas every bit as good as the Superbs but I had the occasional bottom barrel mis-fire which must be a combination of a low primer and a worn bottom firing pin. So as I had bought a couple of thousand Modenas I decided to use a Superb in the bottom barrel and a Modena in the top, nothing to do with velocity, shot size or any of the other 1001 things that can distract us from pointing the gun in the right place!! Now that Modenas appear to be unobtainable I will try the Olympics and if they appear to be the same and they fire in my bottom barrel I will switch to those. I'm convinced that cartridges are another of those things we buy with our heads, expensive must be better, or it's cheap so it can't be any good. I appear to be shooting as well if not better than I ever had and it has co-incided with a switch, well a partial switch to a cheap cartridge!!!!!!
